Fund for the Water Works at a Glance
Fairmount Water Works sits in the heart of Philadelphia on the east banks of the Schuylkill River. It is a national landmark and an engineering marvel that represents our city’s history of innovation and visionary future. Every day, community members enjoy access to the watershed – right outside our front door – and learn to appreciate this natural resource. Here’s how the Fund for the Water Works is making an impact in our community.
Historical Preservation and Restoration
The Fairmount Water Works building is a National Historic Landmark. For many of our neighbors, it is the only access they have to the Schuylkill watershed. The Fund for the Water Works raises funds to protect and build the climate resilience of the Water Works building and surrounding campus.
Education
The Interpretive Center is a hub of innovative education, informing generations of young people about our shared water resources and the history of the Fairmount Water Works. The Fund for the Water Works raises funds for the operation of the Interpretive Center as well as several other educational initiatives.
